Male abdominal Liposuction

Liposuction, also known as liposculpture or Lipoplasty, is one of the most commonly performed cosmetic surgeries in the world. The procedure entails the surgical removal of fat from specific areas of the body. Most of the time, liposuction is performed on fairly isolated, problem areas, which are not easily corrected by a healthy diet and exercise. Although there are varied types of liposuction, the basic procedure involves a hollow tube called a cannula that is passed back and forth through a small incision into the fat, a powerful vacuum to remove the fat from the body and some local or general anesthetic to ease the pain brought forth by the treatment.

Male abdominal liposuction is considered a safe method of removing fat from the abdominal area of the body. It is quick, uncomplicated, and the least invasive method of cosmetic surgery. One of the foremost benefits of male abdominal liposuction is the instant ‘feel-good’ factor that it brings. For a man to look at himself in the mirror and appreciate his own image is one of the most critical factors for self-confidence in a man today.

Liposuction for men varies in several ways from liposuction treatment for women. Males have a tendency to store fat in the upper body (chest and back), abdomen (belly) and flanks (love handles), while women’s fat store mostly in the hips, buttocks, and thighs.

The tissues of the upper body where men tend to store fat are more fibrous than other areas of the body, and consequently may be more difficult to eliminate by liposuction. Some cosmetic surgeons have found that using a powered, vibrating hand piece, eases the treatment and makes the removal of fat in more efficient in male liposuction

In male abdominal liposuction, the fat can be found both within the abdomen itself around the organs which is referred also to as “deep fat”, and in between the abdominal muscles and the skin also known as subcutaneous fat. Liposuction can only suction out subcutaneous fat, problem is a lot of people, most especially men, have most of their abdominal fat stored as “deep fat”. These patients unfortunately will not experience a dramatic effect or that much improvement with abdominal liposuction as patients with mostly subcutaneous fat.

Men who choose to undergo liposuction must of course be in good health, and most of the time will be required by their physician or cosmetic surgeon to desist from smoking and consuming alcoholic beverages days or weeks before a liposuction treatment.
