Liposuction in local anesthesia

Liposuction is a procedure to remove extra body fat from different parts of the body by surgery with the Help insert a cannula. Liposuction can be done by two ways either general or local anesthesia. The total procedure of liposuction depend on the amount of fat that o be suction out and the areas of body. Local liposuction is appropriate for little amount of fat and small area of the body like chin, face, etc.

Local anesthesia should be given only to the treated area. Usually patient may also receive sedative which is administered through an intravenous tube will make drowsy or fall to asleep. The local area is injected into the surgical area.

Injury by needle at the time of local anesthesia I one of the problem although its very rare. But it is not so difficult to prevent.  The technique for doing painlessly in a conscious patient requires special skills and some special equipment.

If adequate concentration of drug can use then inadequate local anesthesia risk should be avoided. The infiltration technique must be done carefully, methodically and patience while local anesthesia have done.

Further more no post operative nausea or vomiting have occurred which is unlike with general anesthesia.

Some common side effects or symptoms can be occurred during and after local anesthesia of any liposuction procedure like mild sleepiness and occasionally nausea and vomiting, its not very usual but can occur. Even there is no sedative drug have taken some people experience to sleepiness during operation under local anesthesia.

Both surgeon and patients should be careful about certain drug. These should be interacting with local anesthetics and increase the rate of toxicity. The surgeon must be informed from patient about the drug he or she has to taken regular or intermittent basis.

Although liposuction can be accomplished by general anesthesia with an acceptable degree of safety, liposuction totally by local anesthesia is safer. The financial factor and convenience should be considered in the choice of anesthesia for liposuction, but Safety is the most important concern among the all aspects.
