Other liposuction death is caused by fluid overload. The excess fluid is collected in their lungs which caused them to be drowned to death. Other dies because of blood clot particularly in their lungs. According to some doctors, tumescent liposuction can be fatal, this is due to the toxicity of lidocaine and unfavourable interactions of lidocaine with other medications during and after the procedure.

And the most common cause of death is due to pulmonary thromboembolism or also known as blood clot. Researchers say that in the US more number of people killed during liposuction than in car accidents. The fatalities rate in car accidents is 16.1 per 100,000 accidents while the fatality rate for liposuction is 19 per 100,000 operations.
